Nzinga Akinshegun

Nzinga Akinshegun-Impey spent much of her formative years in Bristol, before moving away to read psychology at several universities. Nzinga is currently undertaking a Phd in applied psychology and works as a psychologist for a local hospital.
Nzinga has extensive experience in the field of mental health and has until recently worked for the National Health Service assessing and treating people with PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Prior to that, Nzinga worked for several probation services managing the risk of high-risk offenders within the community and ensuring successful integration into civic life. Other psychological roles include writing and developing a therapeutic forensic manual for offenders with intellectual disabilities. This included extensive training of HMP prison staff and dissemination of research to the government.
Nzinga’s specialist psychological interests include intellectual disabilities, mental health, trauma, and all anxiety presentations.
In her free time Nzinga likes to garden and go for walks in the countryside.
